BIO

Richard (Rick) Shea has been an artist, designer, and jeweler in the Carmel area for over 40 years.

Rick studied and worked as a commercial artist in Minnesota before moving to Carmel, California in January 1975 to help elderly relatives move to southern California.

After arriving in Carmel, Rick fell in love with its natural beauty, artistic community, and decided to stay. Wanting to continue his passion for art, Rick took a community metalsmithing class in Carmel and began focusing on metalwork and jewelry design.

After experiencing early success in selling some of his first jewelry pieces, Rick found satisfaction in the creative process and art of jewelry design. With other members from that Carmel metalsmithing class, Rick opened up his first studio and retail shop in Carmel Valley Village in 1976.

In 1978 Rick met his now wife of forty years Lisa, who has been his collaborator, inspiration and partner in business while raising a family. Rick and Lisa soon opened up a jewelry studio in Carmel Valley Village, designing and creating their own custom pieces.

Twelve years later Rick and Lisa opened Carmel Jewelry Studio, their current location, up the street from where they first met in beautiful downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. Here they continue to dream, design, and create original pieces on site.

Come and see what they can create for you!
